" VOD TO THE RESCUE" by JOVI BABS...

Recently I have noticed a flurry of Video on demand services that have popped up over the last few years in Nigeria. From the establishment of Iroko TV by a British Nigerian returnee Jason Njoku a lot of players like Dobox, Buni TV and Afrinolly have come into the game. Even africa magic the nollywood TV station on DSTV has gotten into the act though their VODoffering is only accesible outside Africa.
All this is a positive development and has opened up another avenue for monetization for visual content producers where there has been a slowdown in the market. Many of the producers and Alaba marketers have gone out of business due to the slow DVD sales in the market (why buy or rent when you can watch it for free on africa magic, a major reason many producers are refusing to sell their works to them) and the VOD companies are proving to be the only avenue of monetization for many producers.
There are impediments in the VOD industry most especially the matter of data subscription in a country where internet connection is more expensive than in the west and the fact that most people browse on phones. But the impediments are being addressed as internet costs are coming down and many people are subscribing to the internet. (65 million at the last count in 2013)

LSPD Comic Magazine is here to stay! New Issue out! Getting more Addictive...

LSPD Comic is a new breed of Nigerian comic that is in a world and standard of its own. It was launched on March 22nd at Ozone Lounge, E Center, Yaba, Lagos, With the likes of Tinsel's Gideon Okeke, Maltilda Obaseki, Linda Ejiofor, Chris Okagbue, Tomi Fadaunsi (Philip, Angela, Bimpe, Emil and Salewa) who graced the event for celebrity autographing.
The 30 page purely Nigerian comic magazine features riveting and very thrilling stories with out of the world plots and twists, very interesting characters and most importantly educative columns that leave a difference in the minds of the readers (Entrepreneur, HEARTITUDE, ORO and Star Gazers). The magazine would be published monthly and this would be consistent and comes in EXTREMELY reader friendly prints.
The characters and concept of the comic is purely a feature that Nigerians clearly resonate and identify with. There are no super heroes with capes, flying here and there in the comic LSPD Comic believes in super heroes, welcomes the idea but chose not to set out with the concept, because judging from the history of comics in Nigeria, the kinds of comics that made waves in the 80s were pedestal and day-to-day Nigeria life comics (PAPA AJASCO, SUPER STORY, IKEBE SUPER, FUN TIMES, LULU, BENBELA, DAUDA...)

Meet Kelechi Udegbe an outstanding actor that digs deep to bring Characters to life...

Kelechi Udegbe is an Actor, Model, MC/Compare and a Voice Over Artist. He hails from Imo State in Nigeria. He studied Acting at Wale Adenuga's film school, PEFTI.
As a child he was shy and would never partake in social activities like drama presentations, little wonder people that knew him then are surprised seeing him in the entertainment industry. Kelechi was a member of a music group but opted out in 2003, but he still writes rhymes when he is feeling some kind of strong emotions like joy, pain, e.t.c, he says he isn't sure if he will ever release them even though everyone that hear him sing wants him to release them. He says music heals that is why he loves it.
He started acting professionally in 2009, he attended an audition and grabbed a lead role in Wale Adenuga's Super Story 'Behind the Smile' since then he has been keeping his game tight and has since featured in several moves and TV series and Web series like: Misfit, Ojuju, Kpians, Yaws and Mine, Officer Titus, Stopping Kloe, Bursting Out, Easy Access, Tommy got a Gun, Too Blind to See, just to mention but a few...
Kelechi is a very deep and outstanding actor, he strongly believe his ability to interpret characters and erase doubts from whoever sees them is the reason he stands out from his peers, he goes the extra mile to have look different to fit a character and make it difficult to be recognised (i personally was a victim when i saw Misfit i didn't believe it was him! he totally killed the role), I wasn't surprised he made Nollywood's Producer/Director Charles Novia's list of the Best 5 Nollywood Actors in 2013, Oh did i mention he is really FUNNY!!!

Singer, Nikki Laoye begs for '5K FOR KELECHI' #HELPKELECHIWALK

"Please, Can you give me 5k for Kelechi?" asks Nikki Laoye as her Angel 4 Life Foundation kicks off the "5k FOR KELECHI" fundraiser for scoliosis victim, Kelechi Uhegwu.
A subsidiary of the earlier announced #HelpKelechiWalk campaign, "5k FOR KELECHI" has been created to provided a "droplet" approach for kind hearted individuals who would like to donate without feeling pressured financially and still help Kelechi fight for her life. The saying, "Little drops of water makes a mighty ocean" sets a marker for the goal ahead as Kelechi needs 15 million naira (£47,000) for two major surgeries in the UK to save her life and enable her walk again. Multiple Donations are highly encouraged as well.
The beneficiary of the campaign, KelechiUhegwu is a graduate of University of Lagos & a self employed make up artiste, who was diagnosed with paralytic scoliosis at the age of one. Dealing with the deforming & deadly effects of scoliosis, Kelechi needs immediate corrective spinal surgeries to prevent severe complications of scoliosis which lead to Lung and Heart failure.
