Meet Mena Sodje, an Actor that is Determined to stand out in her Craft...

Meet Linda Omena Sodje, professionally known as Mena Sodje. She hails from Delta State, Nigeria, a graduate of Accounting / Finance from Delta State University.
She says, As a child, she once played the role of a daughter and she remembers this event particularly because her dad took her to the set. She was informed without prior notice that she was supposed to act as the daughter of a woman who would be poisoned. Her 'Siblings' and her would subsequently eat poisoned food and die. She played this role to perfection and it was just a pointer to the gift that she had. She used to play dress up a lot, sit in front of the mirror and talks to herself whilst pretending to be different people.  However she never really understood that she wanted to become an actor until she was an undergraduate and she got a chance to be part of a local school production which unfortunately never saw the light of day. Then she decided to focus on and complete her academic training with the knowledge that she would pursue a carer in acting as soon as possible.
In 2013, she went to visit a friend in Asaba, Delta State,  and coincidentally a well known producer was filming and scouting for extras to play along side some of Nollywood stars, she got in and after that she made up her mind she was going to do this professionally.

In 2014, she obtained a certificate in Acting from Royal Arts Academy, after that she delved into acting professionally from 2015. She jumps at every opportunity to learn more about acting, then in 2017, she took part in Afriff Acting Masterclass and won a Scholarship to France where she obtained a Certificate in Acting from La Cinefabrique, Lyon, France Courtesy of Afriff / Ford Foundation.
She says it was frustrating when she started, attending several auditions with no call back, but she was determined, persistence and God's Grace has kept her since then.
Her first professional job was Funke Akindele's 'Jenifa's Diary' Season 1,  Episode. 13 where she played the role of 'Oby' Mercy's cousin. She has since been part of several productions like; Merry go Round, To Alice, To Love Again, Spotlight, Like Dominoes, Tinsel, Goodbye Lagos, Akachi, Code of Silence,  3Some, Losing Control, Couple's Award,  just to mention but a few.
Mena says she is an Actor because there is nothing she would rather be, if she wasn't acting, she would be acting. She says Acting is life for her, it gives her the freedom to explore, there is always this sense of accomplishment anytime she is on set filming.
She says she doesn't really have role models but has people she admires and look up to for their talent and how far they have come, their positive impact in the industry and how they have managed the spotlight, the likes of Nse Ikpe-Etim, Rita Dominic, Genevieve Nnaji, Funke Akindele Bello, Omoni Oboli, Hilda Dokubo, Ireti Doyle, e.t.c.
Mena believes she stands out because of her genuine love for the craft, her ability to let go of herself and embody any given character added to her desire to do better. She does her homework well and always shows up on set ready, she also assimilates lines fast and listens very well. She is very Disciplined, Determined, Passionate, Persistent, Organised, Intuitive and Energetic.
She loves to swim, watch TV and play Volley Ball. Mena is a delight  to have on set and she is every Director's kind of actor as she is always ready to be moulded. She brings her all to the table, and is  very professional, she takes her craft seriously, focuses on making sure the character she is playing is believable and she delivers every time!
